Meet Chris Ericson (Instagram @chris.hairxson) Owner and Operator of Both Long Hill Photo Op. and Long Hill Barber Co. Chris Has a variety of talents and services that he offers. From growing up in a family of Hairdressing Chris started Cutting hair at age of 18. Early in his career he began working in both salons and barbershops, eventually he made his way overseas to England in order to learn and adapt to their style of barbering. Putting himself in the heart of English barbershops and courses allowed him to look and cut hair from a whole new perspective. Chris has always been inspired by UK fashion and Hairstyles. This explains the UK influence in a majority of his work.
In 2020 when all shops shutdown due to the Covid pandemic outbreak, Chris settled back down in his home town of Trumbull Ct, which led him to opening his own Barbershop company at the age of 25 known today as Long Hill Barber Co.
(Photography Journey) Early in his barbering career Chris bought himself up a basic starter camera as way to showcase his work. Not knowing that photography would soon become a new found passion of his. This allowed him to gain recognition through out southern CT and local Fairfield county for his haircuts. The more popular his work became, the more serious he took photography. Rather than a hobby/side hustle, he realized it was necessary to invest in high quality equipment, and advanced photography courses. Eventually Chris branched out from cutting behind the chair, in order to pursue more photography related work such as photoshoots and providing content services for local hairdressing Academies, and local businesses.
( How did the idea of Long Hill Photo Op. come about?)
-- When working behind the chair at his shop, He noticed many times people would set up hair appointments because they had to look presentable for a special occasion that a camera was present at. Mostly it would be wedding / engagement pictures, professional headshots for work, family photoshoots such as Christmas cards, prom pictures, etc...
Chris realized there was a need and an untapped market to fit both Hair and Photo needs in one service, thus birthing the idea of a Hair & Photo Studio. What once started as an idea is now coming to fruition in separate exclusive store front located next to his barber shop He presents "Long Hill Photo Op."
With his unique background in both photography and cutting hair Chris can offer a niche service that most Barbers and Photographers cant offer to the public. He likes to refer to it as Hairtography.
